New Pattern Ready Now – Roses and Ivy

We will be crocheting-a-long to my new afghan pattern, starting in January on my Ravelry board.  Roses and Ivy is now available for purchase.  Pattern price is $6.00 and you can take 20% off the price of the pattern by using coupon code JanuaryCAL , good until January 31, 2015.

Comprised of octagon, square, and triangle motifs, this pattern uses cluster stitches and post stitches to complete a dense and warm afghan.  The little octagons are a lot of fun to crochet.

What do you think?  🙂

New Patterns?

I am working on a few new patterns these days.  The first is a crocheted full-size blanket pattern inspired by the motifs in Norwegian knit sweaters.  Sometimes my designs morph away from their inspiration, so let’s see what happens.  🙂  I’m planning a Crochet-A-Long for January on my Ravelry board; stay tuned for details.

I’m also working on unique ripple-patterned scarf using self-striping yarn.  I was so happy with the way the self-striping yarn worked in Modern Blanket of Flowers and wanted to do a scarf using ripples rather than motifs.

During breaks at work I’ve been working on Perfectly Stretchy Watch Cap, a unisex knit hat that is perfectly stretchy.  I’ve noticed that all the hats this season lean toward the slouchy, hmm?

In the meantime, try my Holiday Ornament Afghan Square, a 12″ afghan pattern that utilizes some of my favorite techniques.  It’s free, and designed to make you fall in love with my patterns.  It is one of the featured blocks this month on Ravelry’s Block of the Month board.  Share your results on my Ravelry board or on my Facebook page.  I’d love to see it in a full afghan, but it would also look great in a Christmas sampler afghan.

Addictive Crocheting

It is a beautiful Sunday in New York, and my daughter and I enjoyed the day as she prepared mentally for her first full week back to school.  She is a hard-working 11th grader.  Whenever I have a minute, I grab one of my Modern Flowers and hook a few rounds.  The pattern is so much fun and keeps pulling me back in!  This one is going to be in three colors of a self-striping yarn with some olive green solids and framed in beige.  I am using a K hook to keep it nice and drape-y.

Free Pattern Sunday – Eight Pointed Flower

8PF

One of my most popular patterns, Eight Pointed Flower started as a 9″ afghan square but then I later added a few rounds to get it to 12.”  There are almost 600 versions in the Ravelry pattern gallery!  Here is my original and then a lovely version by Chitweed:

Goodgrieflucy added a new twist with her version made into a stunning blanket:

Mystery’Ghan 2014 – Finished!

First post on my new blog.  I am hoping to use this site to introduce new designs and store free  patterns for download.  Still figuring out how to navigate but I’ll get it.  We are finishing up Mystery’Ghan 2014 on my Ravelry board.  Finished afghans are beginning to appear.  Many awesome versions out there; makes me so happy!  Here is mine:

I will add more soon.  I am working on a name for the afghan – I’m thinking something to do with Sunrise?

Here is a new pattern I posted last week as I was finished with the Mystery’Ghan and itching for something new to get excited about.  So far it is being well-received and I can’t wait to see finished versions.  Modern Blanket of Flowers:
