Have you ever wanted a yarn bowl?
I’ve been intrigued by the idea of a yarn bowl for quite a while now, and wanted to share a great deal I’ve come across. Darn Good Yarns is unique yarn company with an interesting website worth checking out. For the month of April they are offering a 50% discount on ceramic yarn bowls when you check out using Coupon Code YB50. Take a look! Besides its utility in keeping your yarn ball from running across the room, it also looks pretty if you want to keep your current project in the livingroom. I have an affiliate relationship with them so will receive a commission if you purchase through this link – Darn Good Yarn Bowl!
Let me know if you get one!
Free Pattern: Gretchen Afghan Square
I’m excited to be featured as the designer of the next square in the Moogly Blog Afghan Square CAL 2018!
Here is Gretchen Afghan Square, named after a talented crafter with wonderful color sense. I’ve made a few changes since the original version, and give two options for the first few rounds.
I used Red Heart With Love, a soft and squishy acrylic that is a joy to work with. Thanks to Tamara of Mooglyblog.com for featuring my design, and thanks to Red Heart Yarns for providing me with the yarn. See all colors here: Red Heart with Love at Joann.com .
There is a paid version of the pattern in my Ravelry Store for only $2.99, and see all of my afghan and afghan square designs on Ravelry, Etsy, or LoveKnitting.
Print-Friendly: Click on this post and it will open in a separate window, and you will see a Print-Friendly icon at the end of the post.

Next CAL – Brilliantine Afghan
Low Stress CAL for the Busy Holiday Season!
Our next CAL for the remainder of November and December is Brilliantine Afghan, a fun and easy granny hexagon afghan that is great as a stashbuster, or use your favorite 15 pack of DK yarn. Personally, I am using Attic24’s Cosy pack, and I really want to try her new Woodland Pack, but if you purchase anything through my links I get a commission, so thanks!
The pattern is a paid pattern, available at a discounted price of $1.99 with Coupon Code Brilliant, good until 12/31/17.
The pattern contains detailed charts on how to work out the colors of 15 different skeins of dk, such as Stylecraft Special DK, or 12 colors of aran yarn (I used Vanna’s Choice.)
Finished afghan is about 70″ x 60″ but is adjustable with more or fewer motifs. Pattern will be updated with half-hexagon and color charts in a few days.
Follow along on my Ravelry Board and my private Facebook CAL group called “Crochet-A-Long with JulieAnny.”
I love grannies, and easy motifs, so I really love this pattern! 🙂
