Mystery Afghan 2015 – Summer Mosaic – Coming Soon!

sneak peek

I’m working out the final pattern details on this year’s Mystery Afghan.  As I stitch I am thinking of the best way to present the clues.  Final result will be a rectangular afghan measuring about 48″ x 70″ in aran weight yarn, but getting to that size will be the fun part!  I like to keep you all guessing!  I will give more details on yarn requirements and obtaining the clues as things become more clear.  I’m working on getting yarn packs made available.  Pattern will be FREE for the duration of the CAL, about two months, and then when complete will be a paid pattern.  The clues will be released weekly on Ravelry.com.  Watch for details here on my blog, julieyeagerdesigns.com, my Facebook Page – Julie Yeager Crochet and Knit Designs, and on my Ravelry board.

  1. This is perfect timing; Sophie is done; stash is still huge. If I want to make this in worsted weight do you think an H or I hook would be best?

    1. I think whatever you usually use to produce a pleasing fabric. I usually prefer I but both would be fine.

  2. How do I download the code for the Summer Mosaic CAL? I have the code, but having trouble with further instructions and wish to be part of the CAL.

    Regards, Di

    1. Diane, Go to the pattern page on Ravelry. On the pattern page, hit the button at the top right that says Buy it Now and you will get a pop-up for ravelry downloads. In the lower left of this box there is a spot for “use a coupon code”; hit that box. Then enter the code and hit apply. The price in the basket will come down to “free” and you will follow the prompts to download. 🙂

    2. The code is SUMMERTIME… I cannot see where to apply it. Thank you for sharing your creativity. Annalies

      1. There is a coupon code here on the blog in the first post. You go to to Ravelry to the pattern page where it is for sale. 3. HELP!!! I HIT ENTER TOO FAST AND MISSED ALL THE DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS!! Can you help me, PLEASE!!?? Thank YOU!

    1. I think you can go try to do it all over again. It should actually be in your Ravelry library if you can look there. Not sure where you hit enter. 4. Hello!

I am so thrilled to learn about you and your CAC. Just two weeks ago I learned what “Sophie” is. LOL

The Facebook group has been fabulously kind and generous with me. I went to a local yarn/quilt merchant in my area. I asked the resident expert about creating a Sophie. She didn’t know what it was so we proceeded to the computer and I took her to my Facebook page. She kept saying how beautiful everyone’s Sophie looked. (I’m hoping you have a few more followers!

Now I am presented with a new CAC, Summer Mosaic and the little peek I saw in the newsletter.
My decision is to try this new CAC.

I am an advanced beginner crocheter with some intermediate skills. But, I have never done a CAC. I also have not ever used this brand nor type of Yarn.

Should I jump right in and do it!? Yarn and all? Or use a yarn I am accustomed to?

I thank you for letting me go on and on. And for your thoughts.

    1. Welcome Penny Jeanne,

I think that you should have no problem with this pattern. The clues are presented without photos so it is a little more challenging at first but there is plenty of support available after the clues are released, especially on my Ravelry board. The recommended yarn is beautiful and lovely to work with but if you would prefer to use a familiar yarn that is fine too.

  5. Will the packs be a cheaper rate or just a convenience otherwise I am just going to order Thank you Julie very excited to work on this project & yarn

    1. I am not sure yet, Angela. If I remember correctly I have seen offers like 10 skeins for the price of 9 so there is a chance there will be a discount. As soon as I find out I will post so wait a bit!

      1. Just purchased pack off deramores & it wS cheaper than even the discount Julie but delay in sending – very excited to start!

  6. I am just finishing a project in Stonewash XL ( which I love!) , but I don’t want another in the same yarn. I I choose a substitute yarn from Deramores and mention your name , will you still get credit? I want to support your art and appreciate your work.

    1. Thanks, DJ. I am preparing right now a link here on the blog through which you can click through to Deramores and buy anything and I will get credit! I hope it works, hehe. 🙂

  7. I already downloaded the mini clue and then went to Deramores last night or should I say this morning at 2am and purchased the yarn and by using your name as the referring person and also being a first time customer I saved 20% and received a free pattern of something else and a discount of buy 9 and get 10th free and free shipping. All yarns are on back order so it will be a while before I receive anything but I am excited to try your Mystery. I like what I see from your website and ravelry.

    1. Welcome, Cheryl, excellent news about the discount and thanks for sharing. I am excited to get started too! Glad you are on board!

  8. I received all the yarn I ordered from Deramores today with hardly any wait at all! I am so excited to get started! C’mon August 1st! 🙂
