Nuts About Squares

For those of you who can’t get enough of afghan squares (guilty!), I am excited to announce that two of my designs will be included in an afghan block CAL called “Nuts about Squares,” coordinated by Esther of It’s All in a Nutshell. Esther is a designer and blogger who makes wonderful step-by-step videos. You have probably seen her work with Sophie’s Universe and the latest Scheepjes Hygge Shawl CAL.

Check out Esther’s blog for all the details: It’s All in a Nutshell.

Starts March 31 and there are 3 lovely yarn packs put together for it, please purchase through Esther’s Blog.

Can’t wait to see the videos, especially for my blocks hehe.

Next CAL – Moroccan Lattice Afghan – March – May 2017

Our next CAL will be a new design called Moroccan Lattice Afghan, a repetitive design suitable for intermediate crocheters or adventurous beginners.  Moroccan Lattice will be a paid pattern on Ravelry.  Size in Stonewashed XL is about 44″ x 60″.

To achieve this look, you will need:

Scheepjes Stone Washed XL, (Aran weight; 70% cotton, 30% acrylic; 82 yds / 75 m per 50g skein) :   Moonstone 841 – 8 skeins,  Blue Agate 845 – 4 skeins,  Boulder Opal 844 – 4 skeins,  Yellow Jasper 849 – 3 skeins,  Garnet 850 – 3 skeins,  Coral 856 – 3 skeins, and  Brown Agate 862 – 3 skeins

You can get Scheepjes Stone Washed XL at Deramores (free shipping with $50.00 purchase, and a 15% off coupon if you sign up for emails on the website),

Wool Warehouse,  and  Paradise Fibers.   I have ordered from all 3 and recommend all.  I get a commission if you order from Deramores or Wool Warehouse, which are both UK based.  Paradise Fibers is US based.

Pattern is available on Ravelry, with 30% discount good until March 1, 2017, Coupon Code is MLA30.  Will also be available soon on Etsy and Loveknitting.  Come Crochet-A-Long on my Ravelry board and my Facebook Crochet-A-Long group, Crochet A-Long with JulieAnny.  (Type JulieAnny into the Facebook search box to join the group.)

For this look, I mounted the afghan onto a 36″ x 48″ canvas that I picked up at the craft store.  I folded the afghan around the edges and stapled it to the wooden frame.  I love it!

(For those asking, I used a stapler like this and 1/2″ staples.)

CALs Past Present and Future

How is everyone doing with our current CAL, Memories?  Here are a few pretty finished versions, by Isabella106 and DakotaStamper.  I love how everyone puts their special touch on the patterns.

Here are a couple of standouts from our last CAL, Spiral Hexaround, by marjos and crankyangel:

Here’s a version I did in Stone Washed XL with a single crochet edging:

I’m very excited about the next CAL – March-May, it is an original design and I’m trying to get yarn packs arranged.  The pattern will be a paid pattern with a pre-CAL discount.  Coming soon!

June-July – Free CAL to one of my old patterns.  Maybe we’ll do a vote!  Hexaghan or September Morning?

August-October – MYSTERYGHAN 2017 – Free up until the start of the CAL, like we did last year.

I also have a few more afghan patterns in the works – not sure of timeline!

🙂
